During Manufacturing Month each year the Broken Arrow Economic Development Corporation partners with Broken Arrow Public Schools and Union Public Schools for one day to introduce students to careers in the manufacturing field. We ask for volunteers from manufacturing companies to come to the classroom and work with the students on a project that introduces them to the concepts of manufacturing. We also ask the volunteer to share with students what their day to day job is like and what they enjoy about working at their company. This event is designed to break common misconceptions about careers in manufacturing and help spark an interest in students so we can continue the pipeline of talent to our companies in Broken Arrow. In 2021, Over 100 volunteers from local manufacturing companies sent volunteers into the classroom and introduced over 3,000 students from Broken Arrow Freshman Academy, Broken Arrow Options Academy, Union Freshman Academy, and Union Alternative School to the potential careers and career pathways located in our community.

Manufacturing Day 2022 will take place on October 27, 2022 at Broken Arrow Freshman Academy, Union Freshman Academy, Broken Arrow Options Academy, and Union Alternative School.  If you or your company is interested in volunteering at this year’s event, please reach out to Amber Miller, Director of Talent Attraction and Workforce Development, at amber.miller@bachamber.com.
